Wirral Aquarius Swimming Club & Swim Scheme

Wirral Aquarius Swimming Club & Swim Scheme were established in 1977. Leasowe Recreation Centre is still the home of Wirral Aquarius Swimming Club, Wirral Aquarius is one of the most successful swimming clubs in Merseyside. We have over 100 members and rising. Our members with swimming abilities ranging from 6 years old beginners to international class swimmers, and even a world record holder!

Why should you get involved?

There are lots of reasons why you will enjoy being part of Wirral Aquarius:

• have fun mixing with boys and girls of your own age.

• participate in swimming galas.

• attend fun sessions on the inflatable 'sea monster.'

• attend various social events like club presentation nights and trips to the Isle of Man.

• be safe and confident in water.

• be able to show off in the pool on holiday!

Our swimmers are instructed by qualified coaches who, dependent on your ability, will either  teach you how to swim or help you develop your swimming to its full potential.

Compete and win medals / trophies in individual entry galas and team competitions.

Improve your fitness and help to improve your performance in all sports you participate in.

Are you a learner swimmer?

Targeted at the younger age group we run our highly successful swim scheme for children new to swimming primarily using the shallow small pool. This will develop your swimming technique in all the strokes. You are grouped by ability and moved to more advanced sessions as you improve, which often happens very quickly!

Are you a more able swimmer?

Once you have progressed beyond the swim scheme (in some cases by the age of nine) you will enter the more competitive part of the club.

You continue to receive individual guidance on your swimming from the numerous highly qualified and committed coaching staff with the intention that you reach your full potential in local, regional and even national individual and team competitions. As in the swim scheme you are grouped by ability and moved to more advanced sessions as you improve.

We not only welcome you if you have progressed through our swim scheme but also if you have learned to swim in many other swimming development programmes.

Duke of Edinburgh's Award

Wirral Aquarius Swimming Club is a recognised access organisation for the Duke of Edinburgh's award, where candidates can complete their sections of the award from Bronze through to Gold in Physical Recreation and Service
